Senior Independent Living Residential Director

Seeking an experienced director to lead a new upscale independent living facility located in the heart of New York City’s theater district.  The facility provides comfortable living quarters, leisure recreation, and tailored concierge and hospitality services to active and discerning senior residents.

The Director will manage all services provided by the residence with a focus on utilization and enjoyment of the arts and culture that New York City can offer, as well as promote independence, health and well-being of older adults. The residence includes dining, hotel style amenities and resident concierge service. The Director will bring an inspiring vision for new and innovative services and partnerships, working proactively with area resources, attractions and venues for a unique New York City senior living experience.  

The ideal candidate will demonstrate passion for improving the quality of life for older adults and will exemplify values based leadership by demonstrating integrity, credibility, consistency, strong teamwork, and outstanding communication.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Management of overall operations including residential services, facility maintenance, regulatory compliance and top-notch service delivery.
  • Lead sales and marketing to ensure occupancy and goals are met.
  • Ensures accountability, communication, and effective teamwork.


  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, health-related, business, or gerontology field.
  • Experienced in operations management with demonstrated success in meeting financial goals specific to retirement living or related fields such as hospitality.


  • Provides overall direction and administration of all programs and services of the residence and oversees the procedures followed by the staff to implement the programs and services.
  • Monitors staffing, purchasing, and inventory.
  • Organizes program schedules and manages staff promotion of programs and events.
  • Develops, coordinates, and as required leads groups and group programs.
  • Locates and develops community resources.
  • Provides case assistance, information and referrals, as appropriate.
  • Keeps appropriate program and fiscal records.
  • Supervises staff and fills in for absent staff as needed.
  • Manage all aspects of building maintenance operations.
  • Maintains and supervises use of equipment, supplies and facilities.
  • Ensure constant compliance with all regulations including city building code and occupancy requirements.  
  • Attends community, agency and staff meetings as designated.
  • Manages other related responsibilities as needed.
